South African Airways (SAA) has announced plans to increase its flight frequency between Johannesburg and Mauritius, starting 1 December. The national carrier will operate twice-daily flights on this popular route, up from the current daily service.

The seasonal increase will run until 29 March 2025, catering to heightened demand during the holiday period. The additional flight will depart Johannesburg at 10:45, arriving in Mauritius at 16:45, with the return leg leaving at 17:35 and touching down at 20:00.

Carla da Silva, SAA's GM for Sales Marketing Distribution and E-Commerce, emphasised the move's importance in boosting tourism and supporting the local economy. She noted the increased flexibility and convenience for passengers travelling to the sought-after island destination.

Mauritius, known for its stunning beaches and vibrant culture, remains a favourite among South African holidaymakers. The visa-free arrangement for stays up to 90 days further enhances its appeal to local tourists.
